Your ACT or SAT was Cancelled, Now What? (2 min read)

Testing centers have been cancelling tests left and right. Both the ACT and Collegeboard (the organization that manages the SAT, AP, and more) are struggling to find testing centers that are willing to host their regularly scheduled tests. All tests have been cancelled for the last few months, and it’s likely that trend may continue. However, many parents are looking for ways to occupy their high school student’s time amid a historically long summer.

So how should you manage this time without falling behind? Many are concerned that prepping now for the SAT or ACT will result in a student peaking too early and losing some of the momentum by the time testing centers actually reopen. Our solution within Brains and Brawn is a bit different. We know many students have far more free time than ever before, so we’re working to make the most of this. We also have tons of resources at our disposal to help get ahead.

Our methodology has not shifted from our normal approach, and we encourage students to follow our lead. Instead of doing marginal prep, hoping you’re ready, and taking the real test when you may not be fully prepared in the fall, we’re pushing students to prepare as much as possible at home. Take multiple practice tests, and measure your progress. Find your weaknesses within each test area, and eliminate them. These tests are standardized and the subjects covered on them does not change. Also, the format and style of questions is consistent across multiple tests. Develop mastery of the material, and build test-specific skills, so that you can take the real test knowing how you’ll perform in the fall and be done with the process entirely.

If you’re confused about where to start, or where your weaknesses lie, connect with our team. We offer free, full-length tests at no cost, and we’ll chat through results to highlight where each student should focus whether they choose to work alone or partner with our team. Connect with us today.
